Frequently asked
The questions that change the scope.
If your question involves an exact property, send photos and the city. Security-sensitive details should never be submitted through a public form.
01Do you install equipment I already purchased?
Sometimes. CAtech first checks compatibility, condition, licensing, required accessories and who will own the product warranty. Customer-supplied equipment and labor responsibilities are written into the scope before installation begins.
02Is a wired system better than wireless?
For fixed cameras, access control, access points and other critical devices, properly installed cable and PoE are usually the stronger foundation. Wireless can still be appropriate for selected retrofit sensors or places where new cable is impractical. The property—not a sales slogan—should decide.
03Can existing cameras, cable or network equipment be reused?
Yes, when testing confirms that it supports the new design. We verify cable condition, terminations, bandwidth, PoE capacity, device compatibility and security before promising reuse. Reusing a weak component only moves the cost into troubleshooting later.
04What should I send for an accurate first estimate?
Send the project city, property type, approximate size, number of cameras or doors, desired result, target timing and clear photos of the existing equipment or areas involved. Plans are especially useful for construction and larger commercial projects.
05Can the cameras keep recording if the internet goes down?
A properly designed local NVR system can continue recording over the local network during an internet outage, provided the cameras, switches and recorder still have power and the local network remains operational. Remote viewing normally returns when internet service is restored.
06Do you provide 24/7 alarm monitoring or emergency dispatch?
Not unless those services are specifically included in a written agreement through the appropriate provider. The website contact options are for project and service inquiries, not emergency response or active alarm monitoring.
07How does access control work with the physical door hardware?
The reader, credential and software are only part of the system. Lock type, door condition, fire and egress requirements, power, request-to-exit and mechanical hardware must work together. Regulated portions are coordinated with qualified trades where required.
08Can you improve Wi-Fi without replacing everything?
Often, but the cause must be measured first. Weak coverage may come from access-point placement, channel interference, wired backhaul, switching, router capacity or the internet service itself. CAtech tests the path before recommending replacement hardware.
09Will I be able to view and control the system from my phone?
When the selected platform supports it, CAtech configures authorized mobile access and trains the client during handoff. Remote access is designed around named users and permissions; shared master passwords are avoided.
10Do you work on existing systems installed by another company?
Yes, after an assessment. Existing credentials, device ownership, manufacturer support, cabling condition and system architecture determine whether repair, partial reuse or replacement is the responsible path.
11Which areas do you serve?
CAtech primarily serves North Jersey, including practical operating areas across Essex, Passaic, Bergen and Hudson counties. Availability depends on project scope, schedule and distance; the listed cities are service areas, not physical offices.
12What happens after I submit the project planner?
Your brief receives a project reference. CAtech reviews the property type, priorities, scale, timing and contact preference, then responds with the next useful step—usually a clarification, remote review or on-site survey. It is not a final quote until scope is confirmed in writing.
